Hiding out for Black Friday

I'm not a big shopper. Mostly the only thing I spend money on is food and I buy everything else possible at Goodwill. Now and then I make a big gear purchase at Patagonia for crucial things like rain jackets, rain pants, stuff like that. I even bought my bike on Craigslist, though I did buy my lights at a locally owned bike shop nearby. Anyway, days like Black Friday freak me out a little. People getting attacked over a good deal just seems weird. Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction. And speaking of fiction, I'm riding the line on Nanowrimo, just a hair over par for today at 41, 868 words of Hippie Dippy written. I'm a firm believer in slow and steady wins the race. I am so going to win this.

It's been awesome to have a four day weekend to just write and chill out with my family. My son has been up at Mt. Baker all day for the last two days. He's loving the snow up there and I am loving that we live just below the snow-line and don't have to deal with it. Yesterday was crazy windy and rainy, but today it was sunny and awesome so we went for a walk. Then my boyfriend made delicious spring rolls with the left-over chicken (we roasted a chicken instead of a turkey for Thanksgiving, but it would be a great way to use up those turkey left-overs, too). Just the thing for a light lunch after eating all day yesterday.

My poor blog has been kinda neglected over Nanowrimo, but luckily I signed up for the Dark YA Blogfest which has been a good time and great for making new bloggy friends. I've also sort of connected with some old friends over Nanowrimo and my old high school friend's blog recently. The internet is such a strange little world. Happy Post-Thanksgiving to everyone and keep on writing. Five days to go! Nano Nano.

  1. I'm at 41084, so we're almost at the same point! While I started with the idea of polishing this one afterwards, I think it's just for fun. In December, I'd like to start writing a new book, except take my time and actually try to write something GOOD.

Honestly, I'd be far too scared to venture out during Black Friday. I've heard some of the stories...there are some seriously crazy people out there.

  5. Hey thanks everyone. Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't want to shop 'til they drop, or get robbed, or whatever.

@ Sarah, New Order never gets old.

All you Wrimos, it's getting down to the wire. I've got just under 4000 words to go. Part of me wants to write it all today, but, well...I think I'll just read a couple more blogs...
